Dell Stem Success Story: Data Science Webinar

CHALLENGE

Dell Technologies takes great pride in its STEM programs and outreach to diverse students, who comprise its future workforce. However, in the COVID-era, on-campus recruiting events and other in-person activities are currently on pause. Tawanna Atwater, Global Diversity & Inclusion Leader at Dell, decided to leverage the company’s technology to produce an innovative Data Science webinar for inspiring students at Historically Black Colleges & Universities and other schools serving minority students.

SOLUTION

OFC created a dynamic 3-minute case study video to showcase the webinar as a blueprint for future student engagement efforts at Dell. We directed a remote 2-camera interview with Tawanna that captured her narrative in an authentic way while surfacing her passion for STEM outreach. We dialed-up the visual energy of the story by incorporating b-roll highlights from the webinar, existing Dell workplace footage, student generated videos/pictures, and custom animation, all set to contemporary music tracks.

RESULT

The Data Science case study video made a big impact inside and outside of Dell. Tawanna’s colleagues were inspired by the massive success of the digital event, which involved 173 students and beat industry standards of engagement. Outside the company, the video connected with students, faculty, academic institutions, and partners to shine a spotlight on Dell’s commitment and innovative approach to instilling a passion for STEM among underrepresented college students.
