IAS: Paths to Math

CHALLENGE

The Institute for Advanced Study is one of the world's foremost centers for theoretical research and intellectual inquiry. IAS, based in Princeton, NJ, is perhaps best known for its faculty member, Albert Einstein, and former Director, J. Robert Oppenheimer. The IAS School of Mathematics sought a way to surface the universality of mathematics and to celebrate the inclusive community of practitioners at IAS spanning a broad array of backgrounds and academic journeys.

SOLUTION

OFC conceived the “Paths to Math” video series as an unique vehicle for mathematicians to shed light on how they discovered the discipline and navigated their way to the pinnacle of the field at IAS. The documentary series is anchored by conversational interviews that provide an intimate look at unique trajectories in math brought to life with animated segments that visualize math advanced concepts.

RESULT

OFC has produced 9 exciting episodes of “Paths to Math” with some video profiles generating nearly 30k views each. The series has been a hit for IAS in showcasing the incredible spectrum of their math talent while inspiring the next generation of mathematicians.
